Shifting Preferences For Office Furniture

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Offices are not known for swanky furniture. Rather workman like approach dots the interiors of most of the offices. The situation was not like this a few years back. The offices were considered as important as the places to live. The approach of the designers was to make office just like a second home to the employees. Employee satisfaction was uppermost in the minds of employers. This was the time when exotic Amish furniture made its way into the office interiors.

But slowly with the shift in priorities space saving became primary concern for major companies. The economics involved in establishing, locating and relocating an office had a lot to do with such a shift. The trendy and durable Amish handcrafted furniture gave way to modular furniture in the offices. The modular office furniture, also known as ‘cubicles’ found favor in the top establishment due to its easy-to-install-and-easy-to-reinstall nature. There have also been some marked changes in upholstered furniture used in offices these days. Traditional styling has made a comeback in the upholstered furniture segment. (more…)

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

The wheelchair has just started from having a simple structure but now, it has evolved into a very fashionable, sophisticated and more well-designed equipment. One good example is the Aeron chair by power wheelchair manufacturer Permobil Inc. which integrates a technically advanced power wheelchair base with Aeron chair components from Herman Miller, Inc.

According to the article Aeron Chair on Wheels which was posted last October 27, 2003 at www.coffeehouse-at-end-of-days.com, the author mentioned that he had a friend who had been confined to a chair for almost 20 years. This condition makes you appreciate what it means for someone to have a really comfortable chair and most wheelchairs are ergonomically terrible. Except for the Aeron chair which is expensive but well worth it.

The Aeron chair features Herman Miller’s proprietary Pellicle suspension as well as tool-free adjustability that provide users with greater control over their comfort and support. This unique Pellicle suspension material conforms to the body and gives dynamic pressure relief over the seat and back for truly customized support. Air also freely circulates through the Pellicle material that avoids heat and moisture build-up and contributes to the user’s long-term comfort.

Renting Living Room Furniture

Friday, March 28th, 2008

The US has a sizable rental furniture market. Quite a few retail establishments have been providing furniture sets for rent for several years. With time the variety and options offered to customers have increased.

The demand for rental living room furniture is so high that there are chains of rental-purchase stores operating throughout the country. A survey by the industry points out to more demand in the Midwest and across the south. The northeast and north west are not high demand markets. In fact, Texas and Florida see the most brisk business in the furniture rental business.

A living room is often the setting in which people interact with outsiders in a home setting. So it becomes important to have it at least decently furnished. So if people cannot afford to buy living room furniture they often approach furniture companies to rent living room furniture. It often happens that those who rent the living room furniture end up buying the pieces.

Sofa Furniture, Choose it Stylish and Durable

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

There is no denying that sofa is probably the most important piece of furniture in any household and as a result, it has the greatest range of styles and qualities available for purchase.

As there are many styles, it may actually be easier to first categorize them into either sectional or sleeper types which could be further divided by using the styles of their backs which normally done in four styles: tight back, attached pillow back, loose pillow back and multi pillow back.

Tight back sofas have a very firm seat and one must sit upright as they don’t have supporting pillow. It is suitable for people who do not have much time as the fabric normally used for this type of sofas is very easy to clean and additionally, there are no pillows to straighten.

Attached pillow back sofas have softer seats and backs because the filled pillows are sewn into the backs of the sofas to prevent them to move around. However, as the pillows are permanently attached, it is more difficult to clean and ‘hide’ if they got stained.

Discount Log Furniture

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

One main reason for the popularity of log furniture is that it is very long lasting. It is this very feature that makes it quite expensive too. However those who are keen on log furniture but are on a limited budget need not despair. You can find some great discounted log furniture that, because of the wood is made from, is in great shape and reasonably priced.

When you buy discounted log furniture make sure you check the grade of the wood it is made from. An inferior quality will not last as long as first grade wood, and the money you spend will be wasted. First grade discounted log furniture is less expensive because it usually comes unfinished and unassembled. There are also discounts on log furniture that is finished in a color that is not appealing to many people; therefore, it is harder to sell unless a discount is applied. If you chose a piece of furniture that is not finished or in a color that is not to your liking, you can have it shipped to your home and refinish it. The manufacturer has all the products that you will need to assemble, stain and varnish the pieces that you have purchased. You can also opt to have skilled carpenters finish the pieces for you. However, most people who buy these unfinished pieces take pride in completing the project themselves.
